What an adventure we´ve had in our first week in Bolivia! Currently we are in La Paz (one of Bolivia´s capital cities) and will be here until Sunday night.
We have been learning about Bolivian culture and have been touring different ministries around Cochabamba (and we´ll see some in La Paz tomorrow). We have been kept busy with the team and are so blessed to see so much of Bolivia so soon after arriving here.
One of the ministries that I was able to tour is a women´s knitting project in a community near Cochabamba. The women meet each Wednesday for a time of worship and Bible study (all done in Quechua – one of the official languages of Bolivia) and then bring knitted or crochetted items in to be sold. The women are paid for each item they make and are provided with the yarn. The items are then sold (both in Bolivia and in the US). This ministry is brining the gospel to these women and is providing them with income to help them and their families. The proceeds from the project also sustain a community center where many others are impacted and able to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. I was impressed with the ministry and hope to visit it again.
We have many other things to share and will post more soon… including pictures!
God bless and thanks for your prayers!
