Remembering Our Plans
Yesterday, as Hans and I were talking, we reflected once again on the fact that we are living in Michigan. As many of you know, Hans had planned to go to grad school in North Carolina this fall – but we changed our plans last spring when we felt God calling us to do overseas missionary work for a few years. Now we’re endorsed with WorldVenture and are beginning to raise a team to support us while we are there.
Whenever I remember that the plans we had for ourselves changed when God showed us His plan for us, I think of Isaiah 55:8-9:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
We are so happy to be in the Houghton area this fall – to be near family and friends as we begin our marriage… and to be in the beautiful creation that God has placed here. We are also so excited to be going to Bolivia for three years (hopefully leaving next spring). God has taken the thoughts we had for ourselves and changed them – only to make them 100 times better than we could have planned for ourselves!
