Give It to Him
Today as I was reading 1 Peter, a verse caught my attention:
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
In the few minutes before I read that verse my mind was distracted, thinking about the many things that needed to be organized and scheduled for the following few months. And then I realized that I wasn’t casting my anxiety onto God – but letting it eat away at me.
Hans and I have been waiting for a little while to hear from WorldVenture about our application, and throughout the whole process I have wondered (and feared) what will happen if we are not endorsed. God has blessed us and taken care of all of our needs in amazing ways and I think I was afraid that all of the blessings would vanish if WorldVenture said “no”.
But God is not deceptive – he keeps his promises and he cares for us. God has promised to take care of us (see Matthew 6:25-30) and he has a plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11) – so even if we receive a “no” from WorldVenture, God will still take care of us and guide us. Who knows? We will probably go somewhere much more exciting than the plans we have for ourselves.
So this morning, I gave my anxieties to God (which I hadn’t even really known I had) and my heart felt a little lighter. God is so good.
